One company in particular is benefiting from the current eBook boom: E Ink Corporation. In recent weeks and months, there have been repeated reports about the potential record year of 2011, which has seen the production volume of eInk displays at E Ink Corp. soar. And now, there’s another success story.

After 10 months in 2011, the maker of the popular eInk Pearl displays, which are used in the Kobo Touch, Amazon Kindle, or Sony PRS-T1, can announce a record-breaking revenue. A billion US dollars in sales has already been achieved this past year.

“Despite the challenging economic climate, our sales of ePaper displays and LCDs continue to rise, largely due to the new wave of eReaders and tablets this holiday season,” commented E Ink Chairman Scott Liu on the development.

However, they aren’t satisfied just yet. He further states: “We also see a major opportunity for our Triton color displays for e-Notebooks and believe they can revolutionize education.” Thus, the goal is to move beyond just being a supplier for eReaders and to conquer adjacent markets. Considering the ongoing developments, especially outside the US where eBook readers are beginning to gain traction, they seem well-positioned for 2012, even without major revolutions.

Even before Kindle launched in Germany, Chalid imported his first eReader from the US in 2007, driven by his passion for the technology. As founder and editor-in-chief of ePaper.tech and YouTube Channel "Chalid Raqami" he has tested over 150 eReaders, eInk tablets and other ePaper tech from various manufacturers since 2010.
