Black Week Deals: Save on New Tolino eReaders and Accessories

Estimated reading time: 4:43 min.

Amazon is not the only company taking advantage of Black Friday to offer steep discounts on e-readers—Tolino partners are also currently providing substantial savings on reading devices and accessories.

Hugendubel (including its subsidiary eBook.de) and Thalia are leading the charge, now offering all e-readers from the Page 2 model onward at reduced prices. This gives you the opportunity to purchase even the latest models—the Vision 5 and Epos 2—at attractive discounts.

Below you’ll find a brief overview of the promotional offers, followed by short descriptions of each device.

Tolino e-readers

Tolino Accessories

Tolino Shine 3 for 99 euros

The Tolino Shine 3 is the main competitor to the Kindle Paperwhite, primarily due to its comparable price and screen size. However, there are some distinct differences.

The Shine is equipped with blue-light-reduced illumination, a feature otherwise only found on the significantly more expensive Kindle Oasis 3. As a result, the Tolino Shine 3 is the most affordable mainstream e-reader with dual-color LEDs.

Beyond that, the device maintains its proven strengths: the 6-inch screen delivers the same sharp 300 ppi resolution as its predecessor and its rivals. Even without a home button, operation remains particularly user-friendly.

The lighting is even, though not quite as uniform as that of the Kindle Paperwhite or Tolino Vision 4 HD (see below), and the build quality is very good. On the downside, the plastic casing feels a bit cheap. Compared to Amazon’s models, you’ll also have to do without water resistance and audiobook support.

The integrated night light is the device’s standout feature. Though the previous paragraph may sound somewhat critical, the reality is that the blue-light-reduced illumination is a very interesting and unique function in this price segment. Personally, I would not want to use an e-reader without this feature anymore. Therefore, despite its minor shortcomings, I can unreservedly recommend the Shine 3.

Tolino Vision 5 for 159 euros

The Tolino Vision 5, with its asymmetrical design, is a direct competitor to the Kindle Oasis 3, but comes in at a considerably lower regular price than Amazon’s top model. At present, the Vision 5 is 20 euros cheaper, counteracting Amazon’s temporary price reduction, which had previously brought both devices to the same price level.

The Tolino Vision 5 sets itself apart with its exceptionally comfortable handling, thanks to the asymmetrical casing. The generously rounded corners and edges, in my opinion, even surpass the tactile feel of the Oasis.

Compared to its predecessor, the Vision 5 features a larger screen and now offers page-turn buttons. Built-in water protection remains standard. Naturally, the display delivers a crisp 300 ppi resolution and blue-light-reduced illumination.

There are minor drawbacks regarding the evenness of the screen lighting: due to the side lighting, those sensitive to brightness may notice a subtle gradient visible to the naked eye.

Aside from this, the Tolino Vision 5 proves itself as an excellent device and is certainly worth considering if you are looking for a high-quality, affordable alternative to the Kindle Oasis.

Tolino Epos 2 for 269 euros

The Epos 2 is the flagship model in the Tolino series. Its 8-inch E-Ink Carta Mobius display is unique, as no comparable device exists within the Amazon lineup.

This screen technology provides break resistance that is unparalleled in this segment. Additionally, this 8-inch e-reader is relatively lightweight—at only 195 grams, its low weight is surprising upon first use. As a result, you can read comfortably for extended periods without tiring quickly, even when using the Tolino Epos 2.

Otherwise, this high-end device offers all the advantages found in the smaller Tolino Vision 5, including the sharp 300 ppi resolution and water resistance for worry-free reading by the pool or in the bath.

The screen is also equipped with blue-light-reduced LEDs, allowing for comfortable reading in the evening. Page-turn buttons are included as well.

All in all, the Tolino Epos 2 presents itself as a high-quality e-reader, though it usually comes with a steep regular price of 300 euros. Thanks to a current discount of 30 euros, this model is an excellent option for anyone who has been considering it.

Tolino Vision 4 HD for 115 euros

Not only is the Vision 5 now available at a lower price, but its predecessor is also being offered at a great value. Even though the Vision 4 HD was only replaced a few weeks ago, this hardly means it is outdated. On the contrary: Throughout its time on the market, the Tolino Vision 4 HD earned a reputation as the most well-rounded device. With water resistance, a flush front, night light, and 300 ppi resolution, it offers a wealth of features.

This isn’t just theory—it’s proven in practice. The Vision 4 HD delivers uniform illumination, minimal ghosting, and excellent contrast. In terms of lighting quality, the older Vision actually surpasses its successor.

Even when compared with the Shine 3, the Vision 4 HD remains a smart choice, as the older model handles almost everything a bit better than the newer Shine.

Therefore, purchasing the Tolino Vision 4 HD is still worthwhile—especially at the current bargain price of just 115 euros.

However: If you can do without water resistance and a higher-quality casing, then the promotional price of 99 euros for the Tolino Shine 3 is the better option (see above).
