Cyber Monday Deals: Kindle Paperwhite and Fire Tablets at Unbeatable Discounts

With the annually occurring and now well-established Cyber Monday in local (electronics) retail, the holiday shopping season officially kicks off. Amazon is once again leading the charge this year with the Cyber Monday Week, which starts a full seven days before the actual Cyber Monday with ongoing promotional offers.
The retail giant has a special treat for digital reading fans: The Kindle Paperwhite is currently available for as low as 80 euros, making the eBook reader an absolute steal. This means it’s 40 euros or 33 percent cheaper. With the 300 ppi E-Ink Carta display and even lighting, the device continues to be an excellent choice. Nearly 8,000 reviewers with an average of 4.5 stars seem to agree.
Note: The Tolino partners have also kicked off with corresponding Cyber Monday and Black Friday deals. The Tolino Vision 4 HD and Tolino Epos are significantly reduced and are worth checking out, especially due to their built-in blue light reduction!
Kindle or Kindle Paperwhite?
The promotional offer applies to the WiFi-only version, with a choice between the ad-supported and ad-free versions. The same goes for both color options: both the black and the white Paperwhite are available at a discount.
The entry-level Kindle is even cheaper: it usually costs 69.99 euros but is currently available for just 49.99 euros. In terms of software, the model is practically identical to the more expensive Paperwhite and offers similarly easy operation. In terms of hardware, however, some compromises have to be made: it uses E-Ink Pearl display technology, which means the contrast is slightly inferior. Additionally, it has a lower resolution (167 ppi) and lacks built-in lighting.
Nevertheless, for around 50 euros, the Kindle offers a good entry into digital reading. My recommendation, however, due to the more comprehensive overall package and better value for money, is to opt for the Kindle Paperwhite. The 30-euro price difference is well worth it and definitely noticeable during reading.
The purchase can also be financed with the recently introduced zero-percent installment plan, allowing the Paperwhite to be paid off for 16 euros per month over five months.
Interested in a tablet?
The Fire tablets have also seen a price reduction. The savings range from 15 to 50 euros depending on the device, with the largest discount on the Fire HD 10. Normally priced at around 180 euros, it is now available for 130 euros. Prime members get an additional 20 euro discount, bringing the net price down to just 110 euros.
For that price, you get a tablet with a WUXGA display (1920 x 1200 pixels; 224 ppi), a quad-core processor, 2 GB RAM, and 32 GB of internal storage that can be expanded via a MicroSD card. Dual stereo speakers, two cameras, and dual-band Wi-Fi are also included. In short, with the Prime discount or even without, the Fire HD 10 is a great bargain. As a result, the device is currently available only with about a one-week delivery delay.
However, it’s also worth taking a look at the smaller devices. Thanks to the discounts, they offer an unbeatable price-performance ratio. The kids’ tablets also come with a two-year worry-free guarantee. If a Kids Edition tablet breaks, Amazon promises to replace it for free on the product page.
It’s worth noting, though, that the Android tablets are shipped without the Google Play Store installed. Instead, users become heavily integrated into the Amazon ecosystem, which can make sense, especially for Prime members. If you don’t want to limit yourself to the smaller app selection, you can currently install the Play Store via a software loophole and sideloading afterwards.
