Kindle Paperwhite for 69.99 Euros on Prime Day 2016: Unbeatable Deals [Expired]

Estimated reading time: 2:50 min.

Update: Check out the Prime Day 2023 deals here.

The eBook reader market often features various promotions and bargains every few weeks, allowing savvy shoppers to save typically between 10 to 30 euros on an eReader purchase, making an affordable entry into the digital reading age.

Then there are the rare deals that entice anyone, not just bargain hunters. Amazon’s current Prime Day offers fall squarely into this category.

To cut to the chase: The retail giant is offering its most successful eReader model, the Kindle Paperwhite, at a significantly reduced price today. Just 69.99 euros is all you need for this award-winning reading device. That’s a whopping 50 euros or roughly 42 percent off the regular selling price of 119.99 euros. The Paperwhite has never been this cheap before—Amazon is even undercutting last year’s Prime Day Paperwhite offer by 10 euros. Plus, there’s never been a 300 ppi illuminated model offered this inexpensively.

To put things in perspective: This price is equivalent to what you’d pay for the unlit basic Kindle with only a 167 ppi pixel density and E-Ink Pearl technology. The Paperwhite is distinctly superior in every way.

The 50 euro discount also applies to the 3G variant and without special offers. You can get the 3G model starting at just 130 euros.

Kindle Voyage 40 Euros Less

It’s not just the Paperwhite—today you can also get the Kindle Voyage at a significantly lower price. The premium model’s price was set in stone for a long time. Only recently has Amazon started offering promotional deals for the Voyage.

With a savings of 40 euros (starting at 149 euros), this deal may not be as substantial as the Paperwhite offer, but it’s still extremely good. Anyone who’s been contemplating buying a Voyage should definitely take advantage.

Prime Membership is a Must

However, there’s a small catch: The offer is only valid for Prime customers. If you’re not yet a Prime Member, you can subscribe today for just 49 euros a year. This not only gets you the super Kindle deal but also continuous access to other useful bonuses. These include free premium shipping with same-day delivery in select regions, Prime Music (music streaming), Prime Video (movie and series streaming), Prime Photos (cloud service for photos), and access to the Kindle Lending Library.

If you’re already an Amazon customer and frequently shop with the retail giant, this year’s Prime Day provides an excellent opportunity to subscribe and get the Paperwhite deal as well.

Moreover, the savings on the discounted Kindle Paperwhite exactly match the Prime annual fee, giving those who were already considering an eReader purchase essentially free access to several practical Amazon premium services.

Fire Deals Too

Either way, the offer is truly excellent because the Paperwhite is characterized by easy handling, high text sharpness, even lighting, and good contrast values. My tip: Grab it!

In addition to the Kindle Paperwhite, Amazon has also reduced the Fire TV Stick by 15 euros, making it just 25 euros today. The entry-level Fire Tablet is also much cheaper now, costing just a mere 39.99 euros instead of 59.99 euros.

So, even outside the eReader selection, you can make an exceptionally affordable purchase with the Fire devices. Particularly, the solid Fire Tablet for 40 euros is likely to be very well-received.
