Last-Minute Christmas Deals on Tolino eBook Readers: Save Big on Vision 4 HD, Shine 3, and More

Estimated reading time: 2:37 min.

Christmas is just around the corner, and in the last days before the big event, you can still snag some great eBook Reader deals. You can save money across all price ranges right now.

First and foremost, it’s worth taking another look at the Tolino Vision 4 HD, which was already significantly reduced during Black Friday 2018 – and it’s on sale again. The relatively new Tolino Shine 3 is also cheaper, making it a hot tip for price-performance balance.

Tolino Vision 4 HD as the Best All-Rounder

The Vision costs just 120 Euros at Thalia, which is 40 Euros cheaper than usual.

The Tolino Vision 4 HD remains a personal favorite even after 2 years on the market. Not only is the device well-equipped with blue light-reducing illumination, but it stands out for its excellent execution.

The screen lighting is as even as it gets. The device also boasts impeccable handling and build quality, along with water resistance. At the current price, you can go for it without hesitation.

Tolino Shine 3 as a Price-Performance Tip

If you’re looking to spend less, then it’s worth checking out the equally excellent Tolino Shine 3. The eBook Reader, which only hit the market a few weeks ago, also features blue light-reducing illumination and impresses with high-quality lighting like its more expensive sibling.

Compromises have to be made due to the lack of water resistance and slightly inferior feel due to the hard plastic casing. Although the eReader is light and well-made, it feels a bit cheap as a result.

But enough nit-picking: This is essentially the only flaw of the Tolino Shine 3. At the current price of 98 Euros (normally 120 Euros), you get a lot for your money. This makes the device a great alternative to the Vision.

Tolino Page as a Starter

We might not often report on non-illuminated models due to the abundance of illuminated eBook readers, but they are still around. The Tolino Page as an affordable entry-level device is still worth a look. It offers the same software as the other Tolinos but comes without lighting and with a lower resolution.

Even though I would recommend an illuminated eBook Reader in case of doubt, the entry price of 50 Euros (instead of 70 Euros) is certainly tempting. The Tolino Page has an exceptionally bright background, providing great contrast values. Despite the low price, the display is therefore perfectly legible.

PocketBook InkPad 3 and Tolino Epos

The Tolino Epos is also available at a reduced price (190 Euros instead of 230 Euros), but in this case, I would recommend the PocketBook InkPad 3 as an alternative. The 7.8-inch reading device is currently 15 Euros cheaper on Amazon.de (215 Euros instead of 230 Euros).

The InkPad 3 doesn’t outperform the Epos in every way, but it does in some important aspects: It’s noticeably lighter, the dimensions are more compact despite the same screen size, which benefits handling, it has a broader range of functions (including audiobook support), and there’s also expandable storage. However, compared to the Epos, you’ll have to do without water protection and a flush front.
