Midnight Flash Sale: Kindle Paperwhite & Tolino Deals Enhanced

Estimated reading time: 4:22 min.

Update (November 27, 2018): The Cyber Monday and Black Friday deals are no longer available, so the offers described below have expired. It’s still worth keeping an eye on eReader deals from various manufacturers until Christmas, as there are usually still promotional prices available until December 24th. Otherwise, it’s also worth checking out our deals section, which is continually updated.

Original Report: This year there have been several new eBook reader releases that are certainly interesting for both new and existing digital readers. With the recent Black Friday weekend and today’s Cyber Monday, it’s well worth it for all groups of people to take a close look at the latest eReader deals available.

There are two new releases from the past few weeks (and a few other models) that are still significantly reduced today until midnight:

In addition, the Tolino Vision 4 HD has also been significantly discounted at Thalia.de: Tolino Vision 4 HD for 120 Euro instead of 160 Euro

A little tip for anyone who bought the Kindle Paperwhite at full price in the past two weeks: Before returning the device and reordering, call Amazon customer service and ask if you can get a credit for the difference. Amazon can be quite flexible in such cases.

Kindle Paperwhite 43 Euro Cheaper

It’s almost unbelievable: The Kindle Paperwhite, just introduced a few weeks ago with waterproofing and Audible support, is currently reduced by an impressive 43 Euros.

This translates to a 36 percent discount. Even the recently replaced predecessor wasn’t much cheaper at the end of its lifecycle.

In our recently published review, the newest Kindle addition performed exceptionally well. The waterproof eReader offers excellent, very consistent screen illumination, great contrast values thanks to E-Ink Carta technology, and sharp and crisp 300 ppi text.

The newly added Audible support allows for the purchase and consumption of audiobooks directly on the device (using compatible Bluetooth speakers or headphones). With its well-known software features, the device impresses once again, distinguishing itself from the competition.

With the price reduction to 77 Euros, it’s the perfect time to act if you’ve had your eye on the Kindle Paperwhite. The discount applies to all storage and connectivity variants.

The device is unlikely to get any cheaper in the near future. Grab it while supplies last.

Tolino Shine 3 20 Euro Cheaper

The price drop for the also excellent Tolino Shine 3 is not quite as significant as with the Kindle Paperwhite. Recently launched, the eBook reader is currently priced at 100 Euros instead of 120 Euros.

In our test, the device made a great impression, convincing with intuitive operability, accessible design, even screen illumination, and great contrast. The Retina resolution (300 ppi) is taken for granted. It lacks waterproofing and audiobook support, but the Shine 3 offers a built-in night light that I personally prefer.

With this, you can adjust the color temperature of the light between bluish-white and yellow-orange using a slider. The purpose of this feature is to reduce blue light to improve sleep quality after evening reading sessions.

For tinkerers, the Tolino Shine 3 also offers the possibility to install their own Android apps. This feature is not intended by the manufacturer (and may result in a loss of warranty!), but it works without too much effort and allows for significant enhancement of the already good functionality.

If you want an open device with ePub format support and night light, you can confidently go for it. In this case too, don’t expect massive price reductions below 100 Euros in the near future.

Tolino Vision 4 HD 40 Euro Cheaper

Since Black Friday, and still until midnight today, the Tolino Vision 4 HD has also been temporarily significantly reduced in price. With a discount of about 40 Euros, this eReader is also a great deal.

Although the device has been on the market for a bit longer (since 2016), it’s still a hot tip. The Vision 4 HD offers largely the same technology as the Shine 3, but does everything a little bit better.

The 300 ppi screen is just as sharp and contrast-rich, but slightly more evenly illuminated. Additionally, the Tolino Vision 4 HD feels much more pleasant in hand and appears more high-quality due to the materials used. The blue light-reduced lighting is also available here. Besides the feel, the Vision 4 HD stands out with its built-in waterproofing, which the Shine 3 lacks.

Overall, the Tolino Vision 4 HD at a price of 120 Euros is also a great deal. If you don’t want to miss out on waterproofing, want better feel, and slightly more even illumination, this is also a great option. The device has led our best list as the best all-rounder for quite some time.
