Whether it’s an eReader, smartphone, or other entertainment electronics, a touchscreen has become standard these days. The PocketBook Basic Lux 3 breaks with this trend and, like its two Basic Lux predecessors, continues to do without touch controls.
Is that still up to date? Good question. It’s definitely unusual, but if all you want to do is read, you’ll get by just fine without a touchscreen—as the early days of eReading clearly showed.
Regardless of the touchscreen debate, the update to the Basic Lux series makes sense with this new model: the Basic Lux 3 now features built-in lighting with adjustable color temperature. That’s something its predecessors didn’t have.
The device uses E-Ink Carta display technology, ensuring excellent readability. Its resolution stands at 1024×758 pixels, on par with the Touch Lux 5.
In addition, the eReader now comes equipped with a dual-core processor and more memory (512 MB RAM). The 8GB of internal storage can be expanded using a MicroSD card.
With Wi-Fi, you can access the PocketBook Cloud and Dropbox, allowing you to load reading material onto the eReader wirelessly. Weighing just 155 grams, the Basic Lux 3 is one of the lightest eReaders on the market.
