“Amazon’s Dual-Display Tablet Unveiled: Innovative Front and Back Screens Debut at IFA”

To complete the trio, there’s more news about Amazon today. The U.S. shipping giant and eBook pioneer has filed a patent for a dual-display device. Specifically, it’s a tablet with a display on both the front and the back.
The device is designed to combine the advantages of an eBook reader and a conventional tablet. The front features an LCD or LED display, while the back has an eInk display. The benefits of this combination are clear: if you want to watch videos, look at pictures, browse the internet, or play games, you use the fast and vibrant LCD. But if you’re in the mood for a cozy reading session, you flip the tablet over and activate the eInk display. Both screens will also have touchscreen capabilities.
The only drawback might be the scratch sensitivity of the rear display. Ideally, this should be set slightly deeper into the casing so you can lay the tablet down normally without worrying about damaging the screen.
If you think the filed patent is just futuristic fantasy, you’re mistaken. At the IFA, E Ink Holding is already presenting a smartphone prototype with exactly this setup. E Ink has also revealed that a company is already working with the concept. Hmm, who could that be?
