New Year, New Beginnings: Revitalizing ALLESebook for 2022
The year is drawing to a close, and as is tradition, this is the perfect moment to reflect on the past 12 months.
In recent years, ALLESebook.de has experienced a noticeable decline in activity. In 2021, this trend unfortunately reached its low point, with only two new articles published and virtually no other updates.
There are several reasons behind this. The declining volatility of the e-reader market has certainly been a contributing factor. However, the main reason has simply been a lack of time to actively manage the website alongside my full-time job.
It’s no surprise that letting ALLESebook sit idle is very unsatisfying for me, as I have always operated the site with a great deal of dedication and enthusiasm. And even after all these years, my passion for digital reading devices remains unchanged.
Therefore, over the past several days, I have devoted considerable effort to preparing a change of direction.
Technical, visual, and content adjustments
Some of you may have already noticed that certain aspects of the layout have been updated.
The primary focus of this overhaul was initially on a technical upgrade for the somewhat outdated software, which, although still receiving security updates, was otherwise no longer up to date.
This issue has now been resolved, resulting in a faster, and hopefully once again error-free, display of the site.
Another central aspect was revamping the layout to make it more modern and to provide improved navigation within individual articles (which can sometimes extend over many A4 pages). To this end, the page width has been increased, and the arrangement and appearance of the table of contents, sidebars, and main content have been optimized.
Additionally, the homepage structure has been redesigned, but the old blog view is still available here for those who prefer it.
Finally, important content updates have been completed (initially in a minimal form) so that all the major current e-reader models available on the German market are once again featured.
More activity in the coming year?
With all this, I intend to increase activity here so that new articles and reviews are published regularly. However, given that this has not always worked out in the past as I had hoped, I am not making any promises at this time.
What is clear to me, however, is that the intensive work invested in the site over the past few days should not go to waste. These improvements are meant to ignite a fresh start.
