PocketBook InkPad X Launches with 10.3-inch E-Ink Display for Comics and Journals

Over a month ago, the PocketBook InkPad X was introduced. At that time, its price was already set at 420 euros, but the E-Ink tablet was not yet available for purchase. This has now changed: on November 26th, PocketBook officially launched the device for sale.
To recap: The InkPad X continues PocketBook’s tradition of producing large-format e-readers and further extends the InkPad series (8 inches) with an even larger 10.3-inch display. While the device still enables you to read fiction eBooks thanks to PocketBook’s comprehensive and well-known software features, most users will likely use it primarily for comics, scientific papers, and journals.
The PocketBook InkPad X can display A4 documents with almost no margins, reproducing them at nearly their original size and making it significantly easier to view complex files.
A Balanced Path with 10.3-inch E-Ink Mobius
The display technology used is E-Ink Carta Mobius, a shatterproof, lightweight construction method for E-Paper displays. Instead of glass, plastic is used as the substrate.
The InkPad X is not the company’s first model to target the larger market segment. In 2014, the PocketBook CAD Reader was launched with a 13.3-inch display and E-Ink Fina technology. Unlike Mobius, Fina uses ultra-thin glass as the basis for the display construction. Although Fina screens were lighter and thinner than other displays commonly used at the time, they were still prone to breaking.
With the CAD Reader Flex, PocketBook soon adopted Mobius technology as well. However, at that time, it was still based on Pearl, which offered lower contrast. The prototype introduced back then also lacked lighting.
The PocketBook InkPad X now takes a more mainstream approach: large, but not excessively so, and yet very lightweight (300 grams), equipped with integrated lighting including blue light reduction.
