reMarkable Paper Pro Move: A Beautifully Built, Narrow Niche

The reMarkable Paper Pro Move is official. After days of teasers and a timely Reddit leak, reMarkable has now confirmed what we already suspected: their newest Paper Tablet is a 7.3-inch portable color E-Ink device aimed at professionals who want to take notes on the go.
It’s sleek, thoughtfully designed, and packed with many of the same software features found on the larger reMarkable Paper Pro. But despite its refined hardware and distraction-free workflow, the Move walks a very fine line between mobility and usability—and doesn’t always land where you’d hope.
At first glance, the Paper Pro Move looks like a shrunken version of the Paper Pro—and in many ways, that’s exactly what it is. It carries over the same anodized aluminum chassis, textured glass display, and refined industrial design language. It also uses E Ink Gallery 3 for subtle color support, with a crisp resolution of 264 ppi, higher than originally expected.
The result? A premium feel in a surprisingly small package—just 7.7 x 4.24 inches and weighing about 230 grams. reMarkable is positioning this as the ultimate paper-like companion for meetings, airports, and cafés. And yes, it even comes with up to two weeks of battery life, fast charging, and a reading light that’s actually adjustable this time around.
Let’s Talk About That Screen
While the hardware is impressive, the form factor brings real compromises. At 7.3 inches with a 16:9 aspect ratio, the display is tall and narrow—especially in portrait mode. That’s great for scrolling through to-do lists or checking off tasks, but when it comes to writing longer notes, things get cramped fast.
The narrower layout also limits how much space you have for markup, layering, or complex diagrams. You can rotate the screen, of course, and the Move handles landscape orientation well—but it’s still a squeeze compared to the more generous real estate of the Paper Pro or reMarkable 2.
Even reMarkable seems to acknowledge this with their movable toolbar—a software tweak that’s clearly designed to save space on smaller displays.
Not Quite Pocketable
In the press release, reMarkable emphasizes the Move’s portability—claiming it fits “in every jacket pocket.” Technically, that might be true for oversized coats or bags, but it’s still a stretch to call this device truly pocketable. It’s smaller, sure, but not throw-it-in-your-jeans kind of small.
Especially once you add a folio or case (which, let’s face it, most users will), the portability gains start to shrink.
Who’s This For?
That’s the big question. At €479 (with Marker) or €529 (with Marker Plus), the Paper Pro Move isn’t exactly affordable. It’s a high-end digital notebook in a compact form factor—but it doesn’t fully replace a traditional notebook, and it’s not large enough to serve as your primary writing device.
If you’ve been specifically waiting for a smaller reMarkable with color support, this might be the perfect device for you. It looks great, feels premium, and gives you access to reMarkable’s full ecosystem—including cloud sync, mobile apps, and handwriting recognition.
But for most people, this is a niche device. It’s too small for serious writing, and too expensive to be your casual jot-down-anything-notepad. And compared to the full-size Paper Pro, which isn’t that much more expensive, it’s hard to argue the Move offers better value.
A Paper Tablet That’s Always With You… Maybe

You can easily hold it in the hand
There’s no doubt the Paper Pro Move is a polished product. It brings many of the best elements of reMarkable’s ecosystem into a compact form—and in a world full of bloated productivity devices, it’s refreshing to see something this focused.
But focus cuts both ways. The Move is beautifully narrow in more ways than one—narrow use case, narrow screen, and narrow appeal.
Still, if you live in airports and boardrooms, or just want a high-end digital notepad that looks and feels like no other, the Paper Pro Move might find a place in your workflow.
Just be ready to pay a premium for that portability.
