Tolino Shine 3 Video Review: A Comprehensive Look at Its Features and Performance

After the Kindle Paperwhite 4 received a brief video review last week, today it’s time for its main competitor. The Tolino Shine 3 impressed us in our test as a solid all-rounder, with its blue light-reduced illumination being not only unique but also excellently implemented for its price range.
However, the feel didn’t quite hit the mark. Although the latest Shine is impeccably crafted, it doesn’t have the same premium feel as its predecessor or the Kindle Paperwhite. This is due to its smooth hard plastic casing. Adding to the problem, the back is a real dust and lint magnet due to an unfortunately chosen pattern, making quick cleaning rather difficult.
Even though the Tolino partners have made root access more difficult via software, fortunately, the possibility to sideload Android apps remains. While this feature is not intended by the manufacturer (and might potentially void the warranty), it is nonetheless a welcome bonus for tinkerers and individualists. You can find out how it all works in the ADB Root Guide.
The new lighting makes switching to the Tolino Shine 3 worthwhile for existing Shine users as well as for new customers. Thanks to the overall very successful implementation, the Shine 3 earns a clear recommendation.
