14 Affordable Cases for Kindle Paperwhite: Compatibility, Reviews & More

Estimated reading time: 26:00 min.

Note: The cases shown here are compatible with the old Kindle Paperwhite models before 2018, not for the new water-resistant Paperwhite 4 that was introduced in 2018.

The Kindle Paperwhite 3 is among the most successful eBook reader models on the market. It’s no surprise, then, that alongside the official cover offered by Amazon, there’s also a variety of unofficial sleeves and cases. Today, we’ll be looking at 13 cases that can be purchased directly on Amazon, as well as a customizable cover from Caseable. That makes a total of 14 different products.

The covers are evaluated based on various criteria, such as craftsmanship, value for money, fit, and scent intensity.

Which Case for Which Kindle Paperwhite Generation?

Before buying a Kindle Paperwhite case, you naturally ask yourself which one actually fits. After all, the third generation of the illuminated Amazon eReader is now available. Changing models usually brings certain design changes, meaning old accessories might not always be usable.

Fortunately, that’s not the case with the Paperwhite series: while each new generation has been slightly visually tweaked (color and logo placement, as well as surface coating), all Kindle Paperwhite devices have the exact same dimensions.

In other words: Any cover explicitly designed for Kindle Paperwhite can be used with any generation model. You don’t have to painstakingly go through data sheets; you can select the case based on typical criteria (appearance & design, weight, price, color, etc.).

Case Smell Upon Unpacking and After a Few Days

I (unfortunately?) am one of those people who can detect smells very well. When buying a case, this is of great relevance because hardly any of the products presented here are delivered scent-neutral.

Yet, there are certain differences between manufacturers. Some cases have a rather strong smell when unpacked, while others can only be smelled if you hold the case up to your nose.

Since I am surely not the only one for whom a strong smell is bothersome, the intensity will be rated in three levels (Weak, Medium, Strong).

It’s important to note that the smell dissipates over time with all covers. Therefore, you shouldn’t automatically assume products with a strong initial smell are inferior, as similar materials are used by all manufacturers. The lesser odor disturbance is often due to different storage methods after manufacturing (e.g., with adsorption material).

Caseable Cover

I’ve tested several covers from Caseable in the past, so regular ALLESebook visitors surely know that the unique feature is the customizable design. Caseable offers pre-designed patterns but also allows users to create their own covers.

This is done with the editor on their homepage, which works flawlessly after a short adjustment period, and the final result has always been impressive. Color accuracy, print quality, and resolution always matched the description. Both new covers I have here are again absolutely impeccable in this respect. Particularly compared to the “How Nice” cover presented further down, which is also printed with an image, the better print quality of the Caseable product is noticeable.

[metaslider id=6985]

I’ve already described how to customize the design in two other articles, here. Therefore, I’ll focus on the remaining features of the cover in the following section.

Unlike the other protective covers tested in this article, Caseable primarily produces “universal products.” That means the covers are not only suitable for the Kindle Paperwhite but can be used for many different 6-inch models. Since most competing products have a very similar form factor, they fit easily inside. If you ever change your eReader, you might still be able to use the cover (if the device size is the same).

The securing is done with elastic bands that are stretched over the device at the four corners. The eBook reader sits surprisingly well despite the universal fitting, so it doesn’t slip.

The cover is also closed with an elastic band, which works just as securely as securing the eReader. Additionally, it’s worth noting the very low flexibility of the front cover (the cardboard inside was reportedly specially reinforced by Caseable) and the hard cover back.

The overall craftsmanship is also convincing: the edges and seams are neatly and evenly finished. A nice bonus for those who like to shop sustainably: the covers are handmade in Germany.

Polyester is used as the outer material, and soft faux leather (similar to suede) inside. Inside, there is a small pocket for storing business cards or similar items.

Conclusion

While Caseable covers have the drawback of not supporting the Kindle Paperwhite’s sleep function and only offering elastic band fastening, users can look forward to impeccable craftsmanship, good print quality, German handmade quality, and most importantly, an extra touch of individuality.

  • Weight: 101 grams
  • Securing: Elastic bands
  • Material: Polyester outside, faux leather inside

Anker PU Leather Case

The Paperwhite case from Anker initially stands out because of the very low price of only around 7 Euros. When you receive it, you’re surprised to find that the protective case comes in the best (cardboard) packaging of all products presented here. This makes the first impression surprisingly positive even before unpacking.

The good impression continues with the case: the craftsmanship is good (not perfect) and the feel is pleasing. A small bag of activated charcoal is included to eliminate odors.

The Anker logo in the bottom right corner of the front is relatively inconspicuous; there are no other logos or inscriptions.

[metaslider id=6986]

The PU leather has a natural look, the stitching is uniform and neatly done, and the Kindle Paperwhite can easily be inserted into the plastic shell. The eBook reader fits securely there. The inside is made of a velvety fabric that feels nice to touch.

So, what’s the catch? As mentioned, the craftsmanship isn’t perfect. But you can’t really expect that at this price. Some minor inaccuracies can be found with the plastic shell, which is also comparatively sharp-edged (but not problematic in my view) and shows small irregularities.

Also notable is that the front cover is rather soft and relatively flexible, meaning it can be bent to some extent.

A special feature of the case is the integrated stand. This allows the Kindle to be positioned upright for reading, secured with an elastic band. It’s a very useful feature, but the elastic band makes it so that the cover doesn’t sit flat when closed. Only when you tuck the band back does the narrow gap disappear.

Thanks to the integrated magnet, the front cover remains closed even without the elastic band. Additionally, the eReader is automatically awoken when you open the cover.

Conclusion

The Anker Slim-Fit Synthetic Leather Case (as it says on the packaging) proves to be an inexpensive cover with a good price-to-value ratio. The craftsmanship isn’t perfect, and some things could be done better, but for the price of 7 Euros, I can’t really complain.

Summary

  • Price: 6.99 Euros at Amazon
  • Weight: 110 grams
  • Securing: Plastic shell
  • Material: PU leather, plastic
  • Colors / Patterns: Black, blue
  • Sleep Function Support: Yes
  • Front Cover Flexibility: High

  • Smell When Unpacking / After Several Days: Weak

EasyAcc Smartshell Case

The design of the EasyAcc Smartshell case is reminiscent – like some others – of the official version from Amazon. Here, too, the eBook reader is placed in a plastic shell that holds the device securely.

The faux leather exterior has a natural look and feels nice to the touch. The inside is made of a velvety, soft material, which is also pleasant to touch.

[metaslider id=6987]

The front cover is held in place by a magnet, while also supporting the sleep function of the Paperwhite. The magnetic force is good – not too strong and not too weak.

The craftsmanship of the case is also somewhat lacking. In particular, the stitching on the front cover shows a certain unevenness. Additionally, the faux leather on the back has uneven gaps. EasyAcc also faces criticism for the strong (glue?) smell present when unpacking. There is no adsorption material included.

Moreover, I’m not too pleased that the front cover, when closed, sticks out a few millimeters over the plastic shell.

Conclusion

The EasyAcc case isn’t for perfectionists. Although the price is relatively low at around 12 Euros, the case is still lacking in several areas. On the upside, the Paperwhite fits effortlessly into the plastic shell and sits securely, and the sleep function is supported.

Summary

  • Price: 11.99 Euros at Amazon
  • Weight: 100 grams
  • Securing: Plastic shell
  • Material: Faux leather
  • Colors / Patterns: Black, blue, dark blue, dark red, red, various patterns

Fintie Smartshell Case

The inside of the Fintie Smartshell case is inscribed with “Be Different, Be Fintie […] Designed by Fintie in USA.” However, it is essentially the same model as MoKo (see below). The PU leather even has the exact same structure. Thus, it’s reasonable to assume the covers come from the same manufacturer.

The pros and cons are largely shared by both protective covers. The Fintie case has a very high level of fit accuracy, with the front cover aligning seamlessly with the plastic shell. The workmanship is also very good. Additionally, flipping the front cover feels very solid, and the inner material is pleasant to touch.

[metaslider id=6988]

The minimal irregularities on the inside, which were more noticeable on the MoKo case due to the color difference, are less apparent on the black Fintie case, or in my view, slightly less pronounced.

The biggest problem with the case, in my opinion, is the magnet, which is much too weak. It is even weaker than the MoKo case’s magnet. Although the sleep function still works perfectly fine, the cover opens with just a little shaking when turned over.

The smell upon unpacking is a bit stronger than with the MoKo case due to the absence of an activated charcoal bag, but it is not disturbing.

Conclusion

Like the MoKo case, the Fintie cover impresses with high fit accuracy, light weight, and good workmanship. The weak point, in my opinion, is the very weak magnet. Due to the higher price and the unnecessary “Be Fintie” inscription on the inside, I recommend the identical MoKo case to interested parties at this point.

Summary

  • Price: 16.99 Euros at Amazon
  • Weight: 98 grams
  • Securing: Plastic shell
  • Material: PU leather
  • Colors / Patterns: Black, blue, purple, navy blue, brown, green, magenta, orange, pink, red, violet, various patterns
  • Sleep Function Support: Yes

How Nice Kindle Paperwhite PU Leather Cover

The How Nice Paperwhite cover is primarily aimed at individualists who aren’t interested in solid-colored products. Therefore, the provider’s protective covers are only available in various patterns. I chose the “Catcher in the Rye” version.

Initially, it’s noticeable that the colors differ slightly from the product photos and are visibly more vibrant. The print resolution could also be a little higher, in my opinion, as it seems blurry upon closer inspection.

[metaslider id=6989]

But that’s it for the surprises; otherwise, the cover offers exactly what you expect: Great workmanship, high fit accuracy, and reliable sleep function usage.

The cover is one of the best-processed cases in this overview, and the front cover also fits very well with the plastic shell in which the Kindle Paperwhite sits completely securely.

There are no inscriptions on the outside, and the How Nice logo is printed on the inside in the lower-left corner. The soft inner material feels nice to touch. The outside has a fine texture but still feels rather smooth.

Upon initial unpacking, the smell is noticeable on the inside.

Conclusion

The How Nice Kindle Paperwhite cover truly stands out with its excellent fit and great workmanship. This undoubtedly places it among the better ones in the field. Although I initially had a bit of criticism, there are no real disadvantages in my view.

Summary

  • Price: from 15 Euros at Amazon
  • Weight: 91 grams
  • Securing: Plastic shell
  • Material: PU leather
  • Colors / Patterns: Various patterns
  • Sleep Function Support: Yes
  • Front Cover Flexibility: Medium

Inateck Kindle Paperwhite Cover

The Inateck faux leather cover impresses with its high fit accuracy. Just like the competing model from MoKo, the front cover closes absolutely seamlessly. Here, however, the strength of the magnet is also sufficiently high, so you have no doubts about the security. The Kindle is reliably awakened automatically when you open the cover.

The faux leather is finely textured, which is also nicely perceptible with the fingers. The inside of the cover is lined with a soft, fleece-like material that is also pleasant.

[metaslider id=6991]

The Kindle Paperwhite sits perfectly in the plastic shell. The workmanship is largely very good, although my cover has a slight inaccuracy: At the top on the back, the gap of the faux leather is uneven, causing it to protrude slightly over the plastic shell at one point. Glue residues are also visible there. While this doesn’t affect normal use, it is noticeable upon closer inspection. I assume that this is not the case with all covers (see second Inateck cover).

A bit more bothersome, at least immediately after unpacking, is the smell of the inside. It’s the same smell as with the Swees cover (see below), though not quite as pronounced. Otherwise, however, the cover is relatively odor neutral.

Conclusion

At around 13 Euros, the cover is very affordable, has a low weight (88 grams), and offers a great fit. In my eyes, you get an excellent price-to-value ratio here, which quickly makes up for the minor faults.

Summary

  • Price: 12.99 Euros at Amazon
  • Weight: 88 grams
  • Securing: Plastic shell

Inateck Leather Protective Cover

Inateck offers several cases for the Kindle Paperwhite. This is the “leather” version.

The PU leather of this version feels much more pleasant to me than the finely textured surface of the other cover. The surface has a natural leather appearance and a soft feel.

[metaslider id=6990]

Most other details are essentially identical, so with Inateck’s 15-Euro cover, you also get good workmanship, high fit accuracy, and low weight. This exemplar also shares the same gap measurement inaccuracy as the other model – but without the adhesive residues.

However, one thing is different: the magnet in this cover version is noticeably weaker, which is a slight disadvantage for me. Fortunately, the magnet is not too weak, so the cover remains closed even when turned over and shaken. The wake-up function of the Paperwhite is reliably triggered.

Conclusion

The “leather” version of the Inateck cover is slightly more expensive than the one presented above and has a somewhat weaker magnet, but it is still the better choice for me. The feel of the PU leather is much more natural, making handling significantly more pleasant for me. You’re definitely getting great value for money here.

Summary

  • Price: 14.99 Euros at Amazon
  • Weight: 90 grams
  • Securing: Plastic shell
  • Material: PU leather
  • Colors / Patterns: Black, blue, ordeauxred, brown
  • Sleep Function Support: Yes

Infiland Amazon Kindle Paperwhite Smartshell Case

The Infiland Smartshell Case, in its green version, is advertised as the lightest and thinnest cover for the Kindle Paperwhite. While it might have been true at some point, that is no longer the case. Weighing 110 grams, the orange test version is actually among the heaviest in the field.

The craftsmanship of this affordable cover could be better in detail. For example, the PU leather on the back is not glued perfectly to fit the shape of the plastic shell, and on the front, the natural leather pattern is not uniformly embossed (it looks worn – see photo).

[metaslider id=6992]

In everyday use, the Infiland cover shows similar weaknesses to the also inexpensive JETech product. Despite the harder material, the front cover has quite a bit of play (as the plastic shell is open on the left side). Moreover, the front cover does not fit perfectly and doesn’t close completely flush.

However, you don’t have to fear scratches with this cover (see JETech comment), as there is no chrome closure. Instead, the magnetic counterpart is embedded directly in the cover. The magnet in the plastic shell isn’t hidden but rather inserted, making it visible and tangible. When you fold the front cover back and place your thumb on the magnet, it can be a bit bothersome.

On a positive note, the rigid front cover is worth mentioning, which is hard to bend. Also, the feel of the soft interior material is appealing. Moreover, the Paperwhite sits securely in the plastic shell.

Conclusion

The price starting at 7.59 Euros is indeed very affordable, but you have to accept a series of drawbacks for it. While other covers in this price range also have defects, overall, this one has the most (disruptive) issues.

Summary

  • Price: from 7.59 Euros at Amazon
  • Weight: 110 grams
  • Securing: Plastic shell
  • Material: PU leather
  • Colors / Patterns: Green, purple, orange, red, black, dark blue, coral red
  • Sleep Function Support: Yes
  • Front Cover Flexibility: Low
  • Magnetic Force: Strong
  • Smell When Unpacking: Strong

JETech Kindle Paperwhite Leather Case

The JETech case for the Kindle Paperwhite belongs to the more affordable candidates in the field at around 8 Euros. Upon unpacking, you can initially be delighted by the very pleasant faux leather, which, with its natural structure and soft feel, resembles real leather.

The interior material is felt-like, soft, and also very pleasant to touch. However, I like the front silver gloss logo of JETech less.

[metaslider id=6993]

As with most other cases, the eBook reader is nestled into a plastic shell. The device sits absolutely secure there.

You pay for the low price of the case, in my opinion, with rather mixed craftsmanship. On my sample, the leather is not affixed precisely to the plastic shell. Also, the softness of the faux leather proves to be a disadvantage during use, as the front cover has quite a bit of play because of it.

One Amazon customer review mentions that the eBook reader was scratched by the cover. While this hasn’t happened to me, due to the potential lateral movement of the front cover, it’s conceivable.

Additionally, it’s annoying that the factory-applied plastic protector of the magnetic closure is pinched below (!) (see photo) and thus cannot be removed completely. Moreover, the two magnets in the housing are not only clearly visible but also tangible, as they are not fully recessed.

Conclusion

While the JETech cover is very affordable and scores with a great faux leather feel, in my opinion, it presents too many smaller flaws despite the very low price. In particular, the rather large play of the front cover could potentially be problematic (see above).

Summary

  • Price: 7.95 Euros at Amazon
  • Weight: 104 grams
  • Securing: Plastic shell
  • Material: PU leather
  • Colors / Patterns: Blue, purple, black
  • Sleep Function Support: Yes
  • Front Cover Flexibility: High
  • Magnetic Force: Medium

MoKo Kindle Paperwhite Case – Ultra Lightweight PU Leather

The MoKo PU leather case is available in many different color options. When purchasing, ensure that the color of the plastic shell is either white or black. In my view, the white frame of the black Kindle Paperwhite is not ideal and is somewhat disturbing to me. Honestly, I didn’t think about this before purchasing and quickly went for the blue version.

Apart from that, the MoKo case excels with a great fit. The front cover aligns precisely (better than many other products) with the plastic shell, where the eReader also sits very securely.

[metaslider id=6994]

The cover flips excellently and with very little play. With its 96 grams, the case is also relatively light.

The magnetic force could be a bit stronger, as although the front cover stays closed when the cover is turned over, its holding strength is relatively lower than that of other covers. This can be problematic, especially in a bag. However, the sleep function can still be used reliably.

The PU leather outside features an unusual pattern and is precisely crafted. The inside is made of fleece-like material, soft and pleasant to touch. At the edges, minimal (notably mentioned for completeness, but completely unproblematic in my view) irregularities are visible.

While some other covers have a really unpleasant chemical odor, the MoKo cover doesn’t have this issue, thanks to the activated charcoal bag.

Conclusion

The MoKo case is particularly convincing due to its very good fit. It’s also delightful that the smell upon unpacking is only slight. From my perspective, only the somewhat low magnetic force could be improved. Overall, you get a great price-to-value ratio.

Original Amazon Protective Cover

The original Kindle Paperwhite cover from Amazon is available in seven different color options, using full-grain leather for the outer surfaces (front and back). With the wide range of colors, there’s something to fit almost every taste. I used the black version, and it’s worth noting that it appears more matte in the official product images than it actually is. The material has a slight sheen and is heavily textured.

[metaslider id=68426]

Inside the front cover is a soft fabric in a denim look. The Kindle logo is printed in a prominent size and position in the upper third, but fortunately only in an unobtrusive color.

Additionally, there’s a small metal tab on the edge of the cover. This tab also serves as a magnetic closure to ensure the case doesn’t keep opening while you carry it in your bag or handle it otherwise. The Kindle logo is embossed on the outside of the metal tab. Otherwise, the outside is free of inscriptions.

The eBook reader is not secured with elastic bands or clipped with four clamps in the corners but is placed in a non-flexible plastic shell. This shell completely encloses the eBook reader, except for the front.

After the first fitting, this construction proves to be very good, as the Kindle Paperwhite fits snugly. The narrow rubber lip that fits over the edge of the Kindle Paperwhite keeps the device in place. Therefore, the risk of the eReader slipping out or dropping is virtually eliminated.

The feel of the cover with the eBook reader inserted is excellent. When you fold the front cover to the back (like a paperback), you can perfectly hold the Paperwhite with the cover in one hand. The soft fabric on the inside of the front cover is positively noticeable, making handling pleasant.

A bit of criticism is due for the relatively high weight: the protective cover weighs 130 grams, making it the heaviest among the products presented in this article.

On the other hand, there’s nothing to criticize about the case’s craftsmanship. The seams, fabric, and leather are all impeccably crafted, and the cover makes a robust impression, offering sufficient protection for the eBook reader.

The Kindle case automatically puts the device in standby mode when you close the front flap – or wakes the eBook reader when you open it again. This is achieved by the magnet in the metal emblem in the cover.

It’s extremely practical that the Kindle Paperwhite doesn’t shut off completely after prolonged inactivity, allowing you to put the device immediately into operation or reading mode simply by opening the cover.

Conclusion

The original Amazon cover for the Kindle Paperwhite is perfectly crafted and fits precisely. Naturally, this is what you would expect from the manufacturer of the reading device. However, at approximately 30 Euros, it’s also more expensive than many unofficial covers from other manufacturers.

Summary

  • Price: 29.99 Euros at Amazon
  • Weight: 134 grams
  • Securing: Plastic shell
  • Materials: Full-grain leather, fabric & plastic
  • Colors/Patterns: Fuchsia Pink, Light Brown, Honey Yellow, Coral Red, Onyx Black, Ink Blue, Violet

Swees Leather Case

The Swees case is among the very well-constructed covers on offer. The faux leather is impeccably processed (glued) and has equally clean cut edges.

The plastic shell into which the Kindle Paperwhite is inserted is, for my taste, somewhat too prominently visible on the back. However, the eBook reader sits absolutely securely and without play in the shell. The inside is made of a soft, felt-like material that feels pleasant to the touch (but smells – see below).

[metaslider id=68544]

The front of the Swees case is securely held in place by a magnet. This also allows the sleep function of the Paperwhite to be used, so it is automatically awakened from standby mode when you open the front cover.

As a nice bonus, a screen protector is included with the case (though with the case, you might not really need it).

One of the two points of criticism relates to the smell. Unlike some other covers presented here, the Swees case does not include adsorption material. This is primarily noticeable on the inside, causing an unpleasant smell initially. It diminishes only after a few days.

I also think the placement of the magnet could be better. It sits as a silver strip clearly visible in the plastic shell and can be seen at the edge with the cover closed. It looks a bit neater in other products.

Conclusion

The Swees leather case makes a good impression and particularly stands out with its excellent craftsmanship. The included screen protector is a nice bonus. However, I was not too pleased with the rather pronounced smell of the interior. Fortunately, it dissipates over time.

  • Price: 12.99 Euros at Amazon

reboon Booncover S3 Case

Near the end, we look at one of the most unusual products in this overview: the reboon booncover S3. This is an innovative and very flexible solution. The eBook reader is not secured in the booncover S3 with a plastic shell or elastic bands but with self-adhesive pads and a Velcro fastener.

The pad is affixed with the adhesive side to the back of the Kindle Paperwhite, securing the eReader with the Velcro area in the cover. As a bonus, a second pad is included that can be affixed externally, e.g., on a nightstand, to store the cover with the eReader. The pads can also be removed without leaving residue and reused. Thus, even with a change of eReader (in the 6-inch and 6.8-inch formats), the booncover can continue to be used.

[metaslider id=7002]

The cover’s craftsmanship is very good. The seams and all cut edges are uniformly and neatly finished. The front cover is particularly stiff, effectively protecting the display. The outer material feels pleasant and makes a high-quality and robust impression. The inside uses microfiber.

The flip function can be used with the Kindle thanks to the Velcro technique, both in landscape format (must be rotated 180 degrees) and portrait format. The stand angle can be adjusted seamlessly within a reasonable range, ensuring a good view of the display at all times.

However, the downside is that the universal cover doesn’t provide such a precise fit. The Paperwhite “floats” somewhat within the slightly too-large cover.

A comprehensive test of the reboon booncover S3 can be found here.

Conclusion

The reboon cover ranks among the most unusual of its kind. It impresses with a sophisticated securing system and truly excellent craftsmanship. A plus compared to most other products tested here is that the reboon cover can be easily reused with an eReader change (in the 6-inch and 6.8-inch segments).

The advantage is also a disadvantage, as the cover isn’t as perfectly fitting as most other products presented here due to its universal design. The price, over 35 Euros, is also a drawback.

Summary

  • Price: 36.52 Euros at Amazon.de
  • Weight: 113 grams
  • Securing: “boon” vacuum pads / Velcro technique
  • Material: Soft-touch surface outside, microfiber inside
  • Colors / Patterns: Black, pink, beige, brown
  • Sleep Function Support: No
  • Front Cover Flexibility: Very low
  • Magnetic Force: Medium
  • Smell When Unpacking: Strong

UHIPPO Ultra Slim Synthetic Leather

The Ultra Slim Case from UHIPPO is definitely among the more unusual covers in this test. Not just because the protective cover is only available in various patterns (i.e., not solid-colored) but also because it has an unusual folding function and closure technique.

I opted for the Penguin design and was surprised by the good print quality and edge sharpness upon receipt. It’s significantly better than the “How Nice” cover.

[metaslider id=68545]

Instead of holding the front cover directly with a magnet in place, a tab is used, which is attached to the back cover and magnetically closes the cover. Initially, this is a bit unusual, but it works well after a short adjustment period. Slightly disadvantageous is the fact that the Paperwhite’s sleep function doesn’t always engage due to the unique construction (in 9 out of 10 cases, it works flawlessly).

However, the folding function is poorly engineered, as it’s a design flaw. The Kindle Paperwhite is inserted upside down into the plastic shell, meaning, when using the stand function, the device is laid on its left side. The eReader can’t be rotated in this direction in landscape mode (!), rendering the (not 100% secure) function almost worthless.

However, the cover can still redeem itself in this regard, as the folding function can be repurposed, allowing an unusual but pleasant handling of the device (see photos). By folding it twice, it can be surprisingly well-gripped, which benefits usability positively.

Less pleasing is the quite strong chemical smell that rushes to greet you upon unpacking. Also, my test cover was slightly dirty on the inside upon receipt, which won’t likely get better over time due to the light interior color. The glossy look of the plastic shell (in which the eReader sits securely) is unnecessary in my eyes but does not interfere with operation.

On the positive side, the general excellent workmanship is worth mentioning. However, the faux leather feels more like plastic compared to other covers in terms of feel and structure. The inside is made of a soft, fleece-like material.

Conclusion

The unusual design of the cover can be quite appealing. Unfortunately, it has some flaws that tarnish the good first impression. The practically useless stand function is particularly annoying, but also the soiling of my cover and the generally light interior material could be improved. Nevertheless, the unusual holding of the cover stands out as something I liked.
