Sony PRS-T1 Set for Major Update: Software Issues Targeted for Resolution
The launch of the Sony PRS-T1 didn’t have the best start, as many users are experiencing software issues. Although in our tests we didn’t face any major complications, we did have to deal with a few minor crashes. As reports about software errors continued to increase, we decided to investigate further.
Now it seems Sony has listened to its customers’ feedback and has actually addressed these issues swiftly. In the official forum on Sony.com, an employee announced that an update is set to be released by the end of the month. The version number of this firmware is 1.0.03.11140. Just a few days ago, Sony had released an update to version 1.0.02.10280 to fix some DRM problems.
The announced update 1.0.03.11140, however, appears to bring extensive bug fixes, which should resolve issues with the dictionary, the screen, and crashes. In the English Sony forum, it states: “I’m pleased to announce that a firmware update for the Sony Reader model PRST1 is scheduled for release at the end of this month. This update is designed to resolve the dictionary, freezing and page flipping issues users have been reporting to Sony in the last few weeks.”
For the update, you will likely need the Sony Reader software on your PC again. As soon as the new firmware is released, you’ll find out here on CME.AT.
