How to Enter Recovery Mode on the Tolino Vision [Video Guide]

Update: In the meantime, the successors to the Tolino Shine 1 and Vision 1 are already available. The two new models can be rooted with relatively little effort. You can find out how in this article.
Original Announcement: A few weeks after the Tolino Shine was released, it became possible to root the eBook reader. Part of the rooting process involves starting the recovery mode so that the ADB patch can be applied. The Tolino Vision hasn’t quite reached that point yet, and it’s questionable whether the new eReader will ever be rootable without opening the device. But just in case it becomes possible, I’ve already prepared a guide including the appropriate video.
The guide shows how to put the Tolino Vision into recovery mode. Basically, it’s quite simple: turn off the reader completely, hold down the capacitive home button and the physical light button, and press the power button for a brief moment. The eBook reader will then start directly in recovery mode.
Rooting Possibility Uncertain
This mode has been slightly modified compared to the Tolino Shine and is now in landscape format. Here, you have the option to restart the Vision, format the internal memory, perform an update, or reset the device to factory settings.
In any case, we remain curious to see whether the Tolino Vision will ever be rootable. If it follows the pattern of Sony, then the prospects are bleak. Back then, the Japanese company updated their PRS-T2 eBook Reader to prevent root access. After that, there were no further efforts from the community to modify the device, and the subsequent PRS-T3 remains — about half a year after its release — still without any rooting possibility.
